Fellow Monterey Park Residents,

I have had the honor of serving as your City Clerk since 1988. I have been re-elected five times. As an elected City Clerk, I receive only a small stipend, just like other city elected officials. However, similar to other city department heads, I supervise and manage the operations of the City Clerk’s office which is open every business day from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. I am an active elected City Clerk. I attend each city council meeting to make sure minutes are kept and the public has an opportunity to speak.

As City Clerk, I improved the city election process, saving thousands of your tax dollars. At the same time, I provided election information in many languages as required by federal laws. As a result, Monterey Park has one of the highest voter participation among local cities.

To better inform residents, I also founded and continue to coordinate the city’s Internet website. Because it contains highly useful information, the website receives thousands of visitors each month. For the convenience of residents, my staff and I established a U.S. Passport Application Center at the City Clerk’s Office. For the past four years, hundreds of local residents and visitors have come to the City Clerk’s Office to process their passport applications through our office.

As a professional with a Bachelors Degree from Cal State L.A., I have strong business experience and government experience. I worked for Southern California Edison for nearly 25 years and own a marketing firm and community newspaper.

I have lived in Monterey Park for more than 40 years and raised my family here. I have worked very hard to make Monterey Park a great place to live. I am very proud of helping raise funds for the expansion of the Bruggemeyer Library as a member of the Monterey Park Library Foundation.

For the past 35 years, I have been an active volunteer in Monterey Park and the West San Gabriel Valley. I am currently active as president of Rebuilding Together - West San Gabriel Valley (formerly known as Christmas in April). I am a member and past president of the LAMP Optimist Club, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Monterey Park Chamber of Commerce.

As City Clerk, I have achieved the status of Certified Municipal Clerk awarded by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks.

I work to bring an atmosphere of professionalism and respect to our city council meetings. Our council meetings should be a place where citizens can come and express their opinions in a convenient and informal manner. If you need help or information on participating in our government, please do not hesitate to contact our office.
