The Economic Development Advisory Committee consists of ten members. Each member shall be either a resident of the City or an individual operating a business in the City. Each of the five City Council members shall nominate two members for a total of ten members. All nominations are subject to ratification by the city council. However, should a nominee be rejected, the City Council member recommending the appointment shall retain appointing authority to submit another nominee. The members serve at the pleasure of the city council. (Ord. 1988 § 19 (part), 2001)
It is the responsibility of the committee to:
(1) Monitor implementation of the economic development strategy plan adopted by the city council on February 13, 1995;
(2) Recommend updates or amendments to the economic development strategy plan as deemed necessary;
(3) Provide the city council with reports on progress towards meeting economic and community development goals as identified in the economic development strategy plan;
(4) Act in an advisory capacity to the city council on the needs of local businesses, and the availability of economic development opportunities and resources.
